Resources for adolescents  that are vaping are scarce and finding treatment options for adolescents and adults addicted t0 vaping is very difficult.

For these reasons we have instituted a comprehensive program to prevent adolescents  from starting vaping and to help those adolescents and adults that are addicted to vaping to stop vaping.

E cigarettes or vaping— which heat a liquid that usually contains nicotine and other chemicals into an inhalable vapor — has become an epidemic. Greater than 20% of high school students vape regularly.

Additional chemicals which may be present in the e-cigarette inhaled vapor include ultrafine particles, flavorings such as diacetyl which has been linked to serious lung disease, cancer causing chemicals and heavy metals such as nickel, tin and lead, THC, cannabanoid oil and other chemicals.

E-cigarettes, initially introduced as benign tools to help smokers quit smoking, are now known to be harmful primarily because of the main ingredient commonly found in vaping liquids, nicotine. Nicotine is extremely addictive and known to be harmful to the developing brains of adolescents. In addition vaping in fact appears to be leading more youths to smoking cigarettes.

There have recently been several cases of severe pulmonary disease and death related to e-cigarette use.

HOW OUR PROGRAM WORKS

We utilize a comprehensive approach to do our best to help you stop vaping.

TALK THERAPY: Our expert provider will explain how these products are getting people addicted and involve you in conversation and show you what researchers know about nicotine addiction and what is becoming known about the long term effects of vaping as well as the most recent knowledge of acute illness and death associated with vaping.. We can discuss any anxiety or depression issues that may be related to the reason someone is vaping.

It is our practice to give all patients Dr. Mones' personal cell phone number and you are encouraged to text him with any questions or concerns you may have.

VAPING CRAVING BUSTERS: Our expert providers will help you explore various activities to help you through those cravings.

ENCOURAGE CALMING ACTIVITIES: Yoga, meditation, sports and hobbies are all helpful especially during the quitting period.

MEDICATIONS: Nicotine patches and other smoking cessation medications may be prescribed. These medications are FDA approved for smoking cessation but not for quitting vaping.
