Gonorrhea

• Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted disease (STD)

• Gonorrhea is very common

• Gonorrhea is spread through contact with penis, vagina, mouth or anus

• Gonorrhea can be spread from mother to baby

• Many people infected with gonorrhea have no symptoms

• Symptoms can occur as soon as 2 to 5 days after infection

• Symptoms and signs in men can include a burning sensation when urinating, or a white, yellow, or green discharge from the penis. Sometimes men with gonorrhea get painful or swollen testicles. Men may also experience rectal itching, rectal pain or rectal bleeding, sore throat, fever, abdominal pain and joint pain

• Most infected woman have no symptoms

• In women symptoms may include a painful or burning sensation when urinating, increased vaginal discharge, or vaginal bleeding between periods, rectal itching, rectal pain or rectal bleeding, sore throat, abdominal pain, fever and joint pain.
